The trip to Backstreet Brewery began with a phone call. Our friends ordered too much pizza & beer. They needed help.

Their predicament started with $10 pitcher night. Naturally they assumed that for ten bucks it would be a small-ish pitcher; and naturally they both like different beers. When the gigantic pitchers of Backstreet ESB and Black Butte Porter arrived...that’s when we got the call.

Other highlights included the $12 Caesar salad that fed 5, old school pizza and the cozy, pub feel. Perfect for an unusually blustery, desert night.

Bill Haas is the winner of the 2010 Bob Hope Classic. Today’s win was the 27 year old’s first PGA Tour victory.

Though Thursday’s play was cancelled due to rain, the last few days of the annual event were gorgeous. The event was extended and there was a great turnout for the exciting final day.

Last weekend was the 18th annual Indio International Tamale Festival! Rated by the Food Network as one of the top 10 "All-American Food Festivals" in the nation, this year did not disappoint. Thousands showed up to sample the many different styles and flavors of tamales.

Blues & Brews!

Last weekend was the third annual La Quinta Blues & Brews Festival. Locals and visitors alike were pleasantly surprised at the gorgeous setting (at the Civic Center Park), quality of the music and doggone good price of the brews.

Three blues bands were featured, more than 30 microbrew and craft beers and a variety of food. Plus...great people watching. What more could you want? Put it on your calendar for next year. You won't want to miss it!
